Safer Journeys Road Safety Strategy Launched4 Mar 2010
Safer Journeys is a strategy to guide improvements in road safety over the period 2010–2020. It takes a Safe System approach to road safety across all elements of the road system (vehicles, roads, speeds and road users) and recognises that everybody has responsibility for road safety.
High priorities for road safety in New Zealand have been identified in the strategy as Safer Young Drivers, Safer Speed, Safer Alcohol/Drug Use, Safer Roads & Roadsides, and Safer Motorcylcing.
Safer Journeys will be implemented through a series of action plans including timelines and key responsibilities. The action plans will also detail how progress will be monitored and actions evaluated.
